MY STORY
AJ - OWNER/HEAD TRAINER
Although I began formally training dogs approximately five years ago, my fascination with dog behavior and psychology started at the age of 11. This passion has only grown over the years, driving me to become a better dog owner, handler, and enthusiast, eager to explore various activities and training methods with my dogs.
I have had the privilege of learning from renowned trainers and instructors in the industry, which has enriched my experience and knowledge. They say true expertise is not just about the number of years spent, but the love, drive, and fascination one brings to the craft. In my journey, I've trained and worked with a diverse range of dogs, from small family pets to service dogs and police K9s.
Some of my background includes being an AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) evaluator and AKC STAR Puppy instructor. I also student teach basic K9 handler courses and assist in imprinting and training new dogs the odor (scent) and search process before they enter K9 school. Additionally, I serve as a decoy/helper in both sport and law enforcement disciplines, aiming to enhance the skills of each handler and dog.
In late 2023, I began teaching Decoy/Helper courses to law enforcement and civilians, surpassing CA POST standards to elevate police K9 programs. I actively train and compete with one of my dogs in the Protection Sports Association (PSA) and handle my other dog, Xuri, who is an IPCA-certified explosive detection dog.
Continual improvement is key, and I constantly seek new knowledge and skills to enhance my abilities as a dog trainer, handler and pet parent. Dog training is my passion, but helping people is my true calling.
